Dubai’s Fleet of Police Supercars

Cop gear: Dubai police force’s latest squad car… a £170,000, 207mph McLaren MP4-12C that joins a fleet including a Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley and Ferrari

It could not be a better time for Dubai to shine bright and proud, especially with their recent winning bid for the World Expo 2020. Everyone knows that the United Arab Emirates is all about the glitz and the glam. It was once simply a desert that was unknown to the world, but with the discovery of oil, the country flourished and boomed tremendously. If the tallest tower, 7-star hotels, and man made islands were not enough, the Dubai Police force has built a luxurious fleet of police supercars that now patrol the streets. For many, this hardly comes as a shock and may even cause some to wonder how and why it did not happen sooner.
Over the past year, the force has had the opportunity to drive some of the fastest and most prestigious cars on the market, such as the limited quantity Aston Martin One-77, Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT, Bugatti Veyron, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ferrari FF, Lamborghini Aventador, and Mercedes SLS. In the last few months, the Dubai Police have prided themselves on adding a McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes SL 63, Mercedes G-Class Brabus, and a Nissan GTR to the lavish mix of sports cars. The most recent addition to the fleet was the McLaren, which runs on a 3.8L V8, twin-turbo engine that can accelerate to 200 km/h in less than nine seconds and brake to a full stop in a mere five seconds.

Luxury: The £170,000, custom-made supercar won 'Car Of The Year' at the Middle East Motor Awards this year. It can reach 207mph, weighs the same as a small Citroen, and has triple the power of a British police patrol car
